Thalys at the Service of European Mobility:

- 470 Thalys trains in circulation per week.
- 6.18 million travelers transported in 2005.
- 88.6 % satisfied customers
- 84.4 % of Thalys trains are on time

(Regularity calculated for less than 5 minutes based on the Thalys standards, which are more demanding than those of other rail and air carriers, normally of 10 or 15 minutes).

State-of-the-art rolling stock technology 

17 PBKA four-voltage train-sets (Paris-Brussels-Köln-Amsterdam) operate on the whole Thalys network.
6 belong to SNCF, 7 to SNCB, 2 to NS, 2 to DB.
10 PBA tri-voltage train-sets (Paris-Brussels-Amsterdam) owned by SNCF and operated between Paris and Amsterdam.


PBKA train-sets:
• supply voltages ( 25kV 50Hz AC, 1.5kV DC, 3kV DC and 15kV 16.7Hz AC).
• 7 signalling systems (TVM, KVB, ATB, TBL, TBL2, INDUSI, LZB).


PBA train-sets:
• 3 supply voltages ( 25kV 50Hz AC, 1.5kV DC, 3kV DC).
• 4 signalling systems (TVM, KVB, ATB, TBL).

Every train-set has 8 synchronous AC traction motors, producing 8.800 kW. Has a weight 385 tons. Is 200 meters long. Has a capacity of 377 seats (120 in Confort 1 and 257 en Confort 2).
All train-sets can be coupled.

In 2006, Thalys implemented Localys, a new train positioning and location service by satellite.  This state-of-the-art system allows knowing at all times trains' geographical position, their composition, their orientation, whether they are delayed compared to the theoretical schedule, or even any material faults.

At that same time, Sanet, a digital voice announcement system was launched in order to contribute to the improvement of on board services.

A Quality On Board Service 

Every Month:
- 26,000 cups of coffee are served at the bar
- 150,000 meals are served and 108,000 newspapers are made available to the travelers in Comfort 1 class.
And Every Year:
- 54,000 transport tickets are sold in common at the bar and 64,000 taxis are reserved on board.

A Team of Both Men and Women: 

- 112 employees in Thalys International
- 120 train drivers of the SNCB, the SNCF, the DB and the NS.
- 270 train accompanying personnel from the SNCB, the SNCF, the DB and the NS
- 320 catering personnel from the Railrest company
- 270 supply personnel (Chef-Express Services Rail Gourmet DB Reise & Touristik, and Prorest companies), to which we must add the personnel in charge of Thalys sales, travel agencies, call centers, and stations.
